TSP Calculator (BRS Match Included)
Project your Thrift Savings Plan balance with your contributions plus Blended Retirement System automatic (1%) and matching contributions.
Hypothetical illustration. The return rate is an assumption you choose. It isn't a prediction or a guarantee, and the default is set low on purpose. See actual fund performance on TSP.gov.
How BRS contributions work
- Automatic 1%: your service deposits 1% of basic pay after you've served 60 days, whether or not you contribute.
- Matching: dollar for dollar on the first 3% of basic pay you contribute, then 50 cents per dollar on the next 2%. Contribute 5% and you get the full 4% match, for 5% total from your service.
- When the match starts: after 2 years of service for members who entered on or after January 1, 2018. Members who opted in get it right away.
- When it stops: service contributions end after 26 years of service.
- The match only applies to contributions from basic pay, not from special or incentive pay or bonuses.
The model assumes monthly contributions, a steady return, and no withdrawals or loans. It ignores vesting: the automatic 1% vests after 2 years of service. Returns aren't guaranteed. Past TSP fund performance doesn't predict future results.
